Art therapy inspired ADULTING

for 20-somethings transitioning into the real grown up world.

Are you Finishing School?

You’ve followed the steps.

Done what you are

“supposed to do”.

Yet you still wonder:

Why do I feel so unprepared for life?

Why does it feel so hard to grow up?

How do I find meaning and make a difference?

What if I make the “wrong” choice?

Why do I feel so alone?

Navigating life is not straightforward or easy.

There’s no “HOW-TO” on becoming an adult.

But there are CORE SKILLS that can get you there.

Curious?

“—so long as I get somewhere…”

In the space between school and adulthood, learn the day-to-day skills of being human. Find grace in the face of uncertainty and wander off the well-known path.

At Finishing school,

find your way.

What does finishing School look like?

Imagine….

You didn’t have to google all your problems and you were the wise one that others came to for advice. Imagine you could ponder the big existential questions and get somewhere. What if you didn’t have to figure it out on your own?

ONLINE INSPIRATION

FOR

OFFLINE WAYFINDING

What does this mean?

In-class time and tutorials are designed for you to have MORE wireLESS time, meaning MORE time to explore REAL LIFE (and not the world that is confined to your wee little screen).

WANT TO JOIN US?

We have two options:

Wayfinding

This is the option for you who are coming of age: 20-somethings.

You rejoice at the idea of finding your way within a pack of same-aged folks, along with warm, generous, and wise guides. It’s like going on an 8-month trek and taking the unfamiliar roads. This option is for you if you want to develop a greater understanding of who you are. You will graduate with essential skills to navigate life.

WAYFINDERS WILL:

  • Attend Weekly LIVE Online Tutorials alongside a group of scholars for 2 times 12-week semesters (see Waypoints for course titles and themes). Because learning is slow and takes consistent practice.

  • Begin the semester with an Individual Wayfinding session with your tutor to help you gain clarity on your goals.

  • Take the “self” out of self-help: private membership group for scholars only. Practice turning your social awkwardness into eloquence and support others as you find your way.

  • Transform confusion into curiosity.Tutorials include live weekly office hours with tutors.

  • Creative assignments. Draw upon the wisdom of artists, therapists, scholars, and poets. Less theory, and more action. Art making will be your creative work-out. No talent or special training required.

  • Keystone Project: Work on a creative project developed over two semesters and presented in April. Indwell in one key mystery.

  • Be introduced to people with fabulous stories to share about their life journeys. This is story-time with your elders.

  • The work load is equivalent to one full-credit course but without exams or marks (hooray!).

  • You choose how much “homework” you want to do. Finishing School can be done alongside full-time studies or a job. Discipline your procrastination. Work at your own pace and figure out what that is.

Waypoints

For ALL AGES—you may be a 20-something who is off to a good start. You may be on the cusp of your 20s, or in any decade beyond. Flex your creativity with this half-day workshop. Predict, reflect, and refine your adulthood.

WAYPOINTS:

  • Monthly half-day workshops to guide your visual art adventure. Join solo or gather with a group of friends and set aside a half-day for creative discovery. During the first half of the month you will watch, read, and most importantly, DO the Finishing School lessons (fun, insightful, and artfully inspired ways to learn about adult life).

  • By mid-month post your art and findings in the interactive private online gallery and receive illuminating responses to your artwork from your tutors.

  • End the month with a LIVE Lesson with Miss Sarah and Miss Esther.

*The Waypoint courses are all included as a part of Wayfinding semesters.

WHO TEACHES AT FINISHING SCHOOL:

Miss Esther & Miss Sarah are two art therapists, scholars, artists, mothers, and lovers of all things unconventional.
Finishing School is built of all the things we wish someone had told us when we were in our Twenties.

We’re so excited to share all our nuggets of wisdom with you.

There was a time when learning and life were not separate. Your ability to learn came from your willingness to move through the world, each and every day. You’re finished with school now and so these are your earliest days of adulthood. How full are these years of the same kind of falling and failing that we all did before we ever went to school. Think back, if you can, to the friendly face of your pre-school teacher as she wiped your tears with confidence in your competence. Miss Esther and Miss Sarah are those friendly faces now, in your first shaky years of adulting.

IS FINISHING SCHOOL THE RIGHT PLACE FOR ME?

You

Are in school right now and can’t imagine what comes next.

Have just graduated and are starting out. Life is nothing like what you thought it would be.

Feel overwhelmed by the choices and are terrified of making the wrong one. You wish you had creative skills to work through the hard times.

Want to know who you are. You wish you had someone to ask.
